Centre for Research Studies


It is an academic body which serves as the focus in the University for the affairs of Programmes for Students pursuing Research Degrees of M.Phil and Ph.D. It is monitored by a Board of Research Studies headed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The work of the Centre involves

  • Preparing and maintaining guidelines for research students and their supervisors.
  • Organising courses in general and specific research skills.
  • Presenting induction programme for research students.
  • Preparing and maintaining the database on research work.
  • Participating in the formulation of policies on wide range of issues including residential accommodation, fellowship and research support grants.

Research Hand Book will be provided to the Research Scholars. It is intended to be ‘user friendly’ expression of the intentions of those University regulations and procedures which govern the study of research students and articulates the mutual expectations of the University, Research students, Supervisors and Heads of the Departments, so that each may be aware of the responsibilities incumbent on the other.

MLA Style sheet and other relevant material will be provided which makes recommendations for the format and the style of the presentation of the thesis which goes beyond the formal stipulations in the University regulations and provides ideas and suggestions and what makes for well presented thesis.

Yearly publication of the abstracts of theses submitted in the preceding year will be under taken under the aegis of this Centre.
This Centre also gives its expertise and assistance in obtaining patents.

Medium of instruction and examination will be in English. Academic year begins in July 2006.
Admission is through entrance test conducted for all disciplines.
