ADMISSION PROCEDURE


GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

  • Admissions to all the Programmes offered by the University are open to women candidates only.
  • Admissions for M.C.A., M.B.A., B.Ed., LL.B. and B. Pharmacy will be based on ranks obtained in the state wide Common Entrance Tests conducted by various Universities as per the direction of A.P. State Government.
  • Admission into M.Sc. Biotechnology will be based on the ranks obtained in the SPMVVCET.
  • A candidate is entitled to pursue only one full time course at a time. However, they may pursue any part-time evening course offered by the University.
  • Admission to all the programmes will be purely based on merit and the system of reservations to various categories. The candidate who has failed in the subject of choice is not eligible for admission in that subject.
  • Candidates seeking admission to Postgraduate and Postgraduate Diploma courses should have completed under-graduate course from a recognized University obtaining the minimum marks prescribed for the respective programmes of study. However, in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and physically handicapped categories, a relaxation of 5% is made.
  • Suppression of factual information or furnishing false information in the application will result in the cancellation of admission at any time.


Application for Admission


a) The application form on requisition can be obtained by post from the Director, Directorate of Admissions, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam, on payment of Rs.300/- (including registration, Prospectus and Processing fee) for all courses, through Demand Draft from any nationalized bank only. The draft should be drawn in favour of the Registrar, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati. Applications can also be obtained in person from the University Office on production of a Demand Draft for Rs.250/-, from 05.5.2006 onwards. Bank Challans, Cheques, Money Orders or cash will not be accepted. The candidate should submit separate application for each course.

b) The filled-in application form along with the required certificates should be sent by Registered Post so as to reach the, The Director, Directorate of Admissions, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati-517 502 on or before the last date specified in the application. Applications received after 5 -00 P.M. on the said date will not be entertained. The University is not responsible for the loss of applications in transit or postal delay.

c) Application is in ICR, format. The columns should be carefully filled as per the instructions.

d) Application forms should be filled in carefully and no column should be left blank.
Incomplete or defective applications will be rejected.

e) The name of the course for which application is made should be prominently specified on the top of the envelope.


The following documents should accompany the application for admission.

  • Registration card.
Attested copies of the following certificates.
  • Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination
  • Statements of marks for all years of the qualifying courses.
  • Transfer and Conduct Certificates
  • Study Certificates of IX, S.S.C., Intermediate and Degree courses.
  • Income certificate of parent/husband/guardian
  • S.S.C. certificate or its equivalent as proof of date of birth.
  • Integrated permanent community certificate in the case of S.C./S.T./B.C./indicating the specific caste of the candidate as well as the category in which it is included.
  • Candidates with physical disability must submit a certificate from a civil surgeon of a Government Hospital indicating the extent of disability and the extent to which the disability hampers the candidates in pursuing studies. The candidates may have to undergo a fresh medical examination, if so prescribed by the University, before being admitted.
  • In the case of ex-servicemen/ defense personnel, an attested copy of the certificate issued by the appropriate authority should be submitted.
  • Candidates seeking admission under the category of extra-curricular activities should enclose attested copies of any of the following:
  • N.C.C.: NCC ’C’ or equivalent certificate
  • Sports: Medals won or participation in International National or Interstate or Inter-University Sports/Athletics/Games.
  • NSS: Participation in National or Inter-State or Inter-University NSS camps or leadership training camps or emergency relief work camps.

f ) Registration of application does not guarantee a seat. The candidate provisionally selected for interview will be informed of it by post. She will be required to appear for interview on the date, time and place specified in the interview card. The University will not reimburse any expenditure incurred by the candidate. Selection of the candidate will not be final unless the original certificates are verified and found correct and the fees are paid.

g ) Provisional selection stands cancelled if the candidate.

  • Does not report for interview on the date, time and place specified.
  • Does not produce all the original certificates at the time of interview.
  • a Does not pay the fees.
  • Does not attend the classes continuously for the first ten working days after admission

RESERVATION STRUCTURE

1) Admissions will be made strictly according to merit subject to statutory reservation for SC/ST/BC and other categories and as per the six-point formula of A.P. Educational Institutions Regulation of Admission Order, 1974. Details of the formula are given below:

a) Admission to 85% of the seats in each programme of study shall be reserved to local candidates. They are allocated among the local candidates in relation to the local areas Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema, in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively. This rule shall not apply to any programme of study in which the total number of available seats does not exceed three.

b) While determining the number of seats for each region, as under sub-paragraph (a), a fraction of greater than half shall be counted as one, provided that there shall be at least one unreserved seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of each local area.


c) While allocating under sub-paragraph (a) the reserved seats among the local candidates in relation to the different local areas, fraction of a seat shall be adjusted by counting the greatest fraction, as one, provided that there shall be at least one seat allocated for the local candidates in respect of each local area.

2) Statutory reservation rules pertaining to SC/ST/BC categories will be as per the orders issued by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.

LOCAL AREAS:
a) Coastal Andhra
The part of the state comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam (Andhra and Nagarjuna University areas).

b) Telangana
The part of the state comprising the districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad & Warangal (Osmania & Kakatiya University areas).

c) Rayalaseema
The part of the state comprising the districts of Anantapur, Cuddapah, Kurnool, Chittoor, and Nellore (Sri Venkateswara and Sri Krishnadevaraya University areas).

Local Candidates:
a) A candidate for admission to any programme of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to a local area as per the conditions detailed below.
i) If she has studied in an educational institution/institutions in such local area for a period of not less than four consecutive academic years, ending with the academic year in which she appeared or, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, as the case may be.

ii) Where, during the whole, or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which she appeared, or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, she has not studied in any educational institution, if she has resided in that local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which she appeared or, as the case may be first appeared.

b) A candidate for admission to any programme of study, who is not regarded as a local candidate under the sub-paragraph (a) in relation to any local areas shall,

i) If she has studied in educational institutions in the state for a period of not less than seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which she appeared, or first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate in relation to such local area, where she had studied for maximum period out of the said period of seven years, or where the periods of her study in two or more local areas are equal or local area where she has studied last in such equal periods.

ii) If during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which she appeared or first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, she has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has resided in the state during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local candidate in relation to such local area where she has resided for the maximum period out of the said period of seven years, or where the periods of her residence in one or more local areas are equal, such local area where she has resided last in such equal period.


NOTE : If a local candidate in respect of a local area is not available to fill the seat reserved or allocated in her favour in that local area, such seat shall be filled as if it has not been reserved.

Explanation:

a) Educational instituitionmeans a University or any educational instituition recognized by the state Government, a University or other competent authority.

b) Relevant qualifying examination in relation to admission into any programme of study means the examination, a pass in which is the minimum educational qualification for admission to such programme of study.

c) In reckoning the consecutive academic year during which a candidate has studied, any period of interruption of her study by reason of her failure to pass any examination or any period of her study in a statewide University or statewide educational instituitionshall be disregarded.

d) The question whether any candidate for admission to any programme of study has resided in any local areas shall be determined with reference to the residence of her parents or other guardians.
Non-local Candidates:

The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply for admission to the remaining 15% unreserved seats.

a) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding the period of study outside the State and the period of employment outside the State.

b) Candidates who are children of parents in the employment of the State or Central Government, Public Sector Corporation, Local Bodies, Universities and similar other quasi-government institutions within the state.

c) Candidates who are wives of those in employment of the State or Central government, Public Sector/Corporations, local bodies, Universities and similar other quasi-government Institutions within the state and educational Institutions recognized by the government, a University or other competent authority.

d) Candidates who are employees in the State, Central Government, Public Sector Corporation, Local Bodies, Universities and other similar quasi-public Institutions within the state.


NOTE: The marks of the non-local candidates should not be less than the marks of the last candidate admitted in the open competition among the local candidates. If seats in the non-local category are not filled up, they will be transferred to the local category.

Study / Residence Certificate:

a) Applicants claiming to be local candidates under sub-rules 5.2(a) (i) or sub-rule 5.2 (b)(i) have to produce study certificates for four years/seven years as the case may be, from the heads of institutions concerned as evidence of fulfillment of the conditions set out in the said rules.

b) Applicants claiming to be local candidates under sub-rule 5.2 (a) (ii) or 5.2 (b) (ii) have likewise to produce certificates of residence in the prescribed form, as evidence of fulfillment of the conditions set out in the said rules, from a duly authorized officer of the revenue department.

Reservation for SC/ST/BC Candidates:

a) 15% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

b) 6% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.

NOTE: If sufficient number of candidates is not available to fill up the seats reserved for S.C., the seats left over shall be filled up by eligible candidates from S.T., and vice-versa.

The left over seats shall be filled up with the candidates of open category.

a) 25% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Backward Castes as detailed below:
Group A-7% Group B -10%
Group C-1% Group D -7%

NOTE: In respect of B.C. category, if sufficient number of candidates in any group is not available to fill up the seats reserved for that particular group, they shall be filled up by eligible candidates from any other B.C group in the order of merit. The leftover seats, if any, shall be filled with the candidates of open category. Production of Caste Certificate (Group A, B, C & D): Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (Group A, B, C & D) /Scheduled Tribes/Backward Classes (Group A, B, C&D) should produce integrated permanent Community Certificate to that effect issued by the competent authority. Only those castes as are approved by the Government of Andhra Pradesh will be considered under the respective Categories/Groups.

Other Reservations:

a) 3% of the total seats in each category are reserved for candidates with physical disability as per G.O.Ms.No.339 Edn. dated 15.12.99 issued by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

b) 2% of total seats are reserved for the children of Ex-servicemen / defence personnel to be filled up based on merit among such candidates.

c) 5% of the total seats are reserved for co-curricular activities like N.C.C., Sports & N.S.S.

INFORMATION ON EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Only the following categories are eligible for consideration for admission under extra-curricular activities quota of seats.

  • All the categories are of equal importance and admission will be based on merit among the candidates with equal extra-curricular status.
  • Participation during the period of study of the qualifying examination alone will be considered.
  • Priority I: International level participation in NCC with ‘C’ certificate / International level participation in NSS activities./ International level participation in Sports and Games.
  • Priority II: National level participation in NCC with ‘C’ certificate/ National level participation in NSS activities./
    National level participation in Sports and Games.
  • Priority III: State level participation in NCC with ‘C’ Certificate or just ‘C’ Certificate./ State or Inter-University NSS camps or NSS special camps./ State or Inter-zzUniversity or Inter-district level participation in Sports and Games.


ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR PAYMENT


1. The candidates applying under payment seats should fulfill all criteria on par with the other candidates.
2. If there is no application in any particular region, the seat can be filled based on merit from other regions.
3. The payment seats will be in addition to the self-financed seats wherever applicable.
4. The payment candidate shall attend the classes and fieldwork and other components or course work on par with other regular candidates.
5. Additional fee should be collected for each course from the candidates seeking admission under payment / sponsored category as indicated in the tables.
6. Cadidates applying under sponsored category shall submit a certificate from an Institution/ Industry that they are sponsoring the candidate and that they employ the candidate after passing the course.


REFUND OF FEES:


Fee once paid will not be refunded if the candidate has attended the classes. However, 75% of the tuition fee will be refunded if a candidate discontinues without attending the classes and makes a request for refund before the closing date for admissions.

In the case of candidates joining under payments seats , they are eligible for refund of fee that is over and above the regular fees, if the candidates secure a regular seat later in the same course by sliding, or sliding, or in any other course in the University, before the closing date for admissions.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR COURSES WITH STATEWIDE ENTRANCE TESTS :

Applicants seeking admission to the MCA/MBA/B.Ed./LL.B./ Pharmacy B.Ped Degree programmes of this University should qualify in the first instance through the respective statewide Common Entrance Test-2006.

All information about the test will be notified in the news papers by the respective Conveners. Admission into the programmes will be made based on ranking assigned in the Common Entrance Test.

Admission to the M.Sc Biotechnology and degree courses shall be based on the rank obtained in SPMVVCET to be held on (vide notification in Eenadu and Hindu dt).


SEATS FOR NRI/FOREIGN NATIONALS/PERSONS OF INDIAN ORIGIN HOLDING FOREIGN PASSPORT :


For M.C.A. and M.B.A. 5% of the sanctioned seats are allowed for admission of NRI/in lieu of NRI candidates. These seats are within the sanctioned intake only. Further, 15% of the sanctioned seats are also allowed, on supernumerary basis, for admission of foreign students/ persons of Indian origin holding foreign passports. For B. Pharmacy, only supernumerary seats to the extent of 5% for NRI are allowed.

Note:
1. The Term fee is collected at the beginning of I Semester (i.e., at the time of admission), III Semester (beginning of II year), and V Semester (beginning of III year, where applicable). Along with the I Term fee, refundable Library deposit of Rs.500/- are collected extra. The Lab/User charges are collected at the beginning of both I and III Terms. This pattern is applicable for annual pattern courses also.
2. The University reserves the right to offer or not to offer any of the courses indicated in the prospectus.
3. The fee prescribed is applicable for the candidates admitted for 2006-2007 onwards.
4. Fee once paid will not be refunded after the commencement of class work. However, 75% of the tuition fee will be refunded if any candidate discontinues without attending classes and makes a request for refund before the closing day of admissions.
5. Under the Project sanctioned by Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, 15 students, admitted to M.Sc. Biotechnology course will be entitled for a studentship of Rs.800/- per month.
