I. Particulars of University, functions and Duties.

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (Women's University) was established and constituted by Andhra Pradesh Act under 16, 1983, as amended by act No. 17 by 1975), Act No.25 of 1986, Act 13 of 1931, Act No. of 1893 and Act 5 of 2006 . (Annexure – I). The Act is called Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Act, 16 of 1983 (herein after called the Act). The University head quarters is located at Tirupati. It has a land ambience of 130.62 acres with a total built up area 50,000 sq. mtrs. The objectives of the University include promotion and discrimination of knowledge and skills particularly those relating to employment, awareness of social issues and human values and the development of the character and personality and leadership in all aspects of life. According to S.5 of the Act the powers and functions of the University are as follows to provide for instruction in such branches of learning as the University may from time to time determine and to make provisions for research and for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. To grant, subject to such conditions as the University may determine, diplomas or certificates to and confer degrees and other academic distinctions on the basis of examinations, evaluations or any other method of testing on persons; To organize and to undertake extramural studies and extension services; To confer honorary degrees or other distinctions in the manner prescribed by the statutes. To provide instructions, for such courses of study including the course of study by correspondence, to such persons as are not members of the University, as it may determine; To institute Professorships, Readerships, Lecturerships, Principalships, and other teaching or academic posts required by the University and to appoint persons to such posts as Professors, Readers, Lecturers, Principals, or other posts; To recognize persons working in any institution associated with the University for imparting instruction or supervising research or both, and to withdraw such recognition; To appoint persons working in any other University College or institution or organization as teachers of the University for a specified period; To create administrative ministerial and other posts and to make appointments thereto; Co-operate or collaborate or authorize, associate with any other university or authority or institution of higher learning manner and for such purposes, as the University may determine; |
